Net Billing & incentive support

The incentives keep changing: we keep track

Net Metering and the €1,500 grant closed at the end of 2025. In 2026 the route is Net Billing, a home battery subsidy is on the way, and a renovation grant opens in September. We follow every scheme and file every form.

Incentives, made simple

What support is actually available in 2026

December 2025 was the turning point for solar support in Cyprus. Net Metering closed to new applications on 31 December 2025, and the residential grants closed alongside it: the €1,500 photovoltaic grant, the higher allowance for vulnerable households, and the instalment-based Photovoltaics for All programme all stopped accepting applications. Plenty of pages online still promote them as current, and chasing them wastes weeks.

New systems now connect under Net Billing. Exported surplus is credited at around €0.11 per kWh under the rate framework set by CERA, while the electricity you buy costs roughly €0.25, so the solar you consume directly is worth more than double what exports earn. Credits offset your bills from period to period, accounts are cleared once a year in autumn, and any surplus left after the final clearing is wiped. The practical conclusion: size for self-consumption, not for export.

On batteries, the honest picture in mid-2026 is this: a dedicated home-battery subsidy has been announced and the Energy Ministry has repeatedly signalled a launch, but applications haven't opened and no amounts or criteria are published. Anyone quoting you a confirmed battery grant today is guessing. What you can do is have your file ready for the day it opens, and that's something we prepare with you.

One concrete scheme is on the 2026 calendar: Save and Upgrade Homes 2026 (Εξοικονομώ – Αναβαθμίζω στις Κατοικίες), a €20 million grant under the EU co-funded THALIA programme, expected to open for applications in September. It funds deep energy upgrades of homes first connected to the grid before 2008, and both battery storage and net-billing photovoltaics are on its list of eligible measures. Grant rates will be published when the call opens.

Timing is the part most people underestimate. Cyprus grant windows open with fixed budgets and close when the money is allocated; the final weeks of Net Metering alone drew thousands of rushed applications. When a scheme you qualify for opens, having documents ready on day one matters more than almost anything else.

That's the service. We track the schemes as they change, tell you plainly what you qualify for today and what's genuinely worth waiting for, then prepare and submit every form: the Net Billing contract, EAC and grid applications, and grant paperwork when a window opens, following each one through to approval.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

More questions? Our team is reachable on WhatsApp, by phone, or through our contact form.

Is the €1,500 solar grant still available?

No. The €1,500 residential photovoltaic grant closed at the end of 2025; a final administrative deadline in May 2026 applied only to households that had already filed a grid-connection request by 31 December 2025. The higher grant for vulnerable households closed on the same timeline. New projects now proceed under Net Billing instead.

Can I still apply for Net Metering?

No. Net Metering closed to new applications on 31 December 2025, and new systems connect under Net Billing. If you already hold a Net Metering contract it continues, EAC has indicated for 15 years from installation, before transitioning to Net Billing. One recent change worth knowing: accumulated net-metering surpluses are now cleared every 36 months, applied for the first time in early 2026.

What do I get paid for exported solar under Net Billing?

Around €0.11 per kWh under the rate framework set by CERA; EAC publishes the current purchase price on its website monthly. Imports and exports are netted each billing period, credits roll onto your next bill, and accounts are settled once a year in October or November. Any surplus left after that final clearing is deleted, which is why we design systems for self-consumption rather than export.

Is there a battery subsidy I can apply for right now?

Not yet. A dedicated home-battery subsidy was announced in late 2025 and is expected during 2026, but as of mid-2026 no applications are open and no amounts are published. The Save and Upgrade Homes 2026 scheme, opening in September, does list battery storage among its eligible measures for pre-2008 homes undergoing a wider upgrade. We track both and keep your file ready so you can apply on day one.

What is the Save and Upgrade Homes 2026 scheme?

A €20 million grant scheme (Εξοικονομώ – Αναβαθμίζω στις Κατοικίες) under the EU co-funded THALIA programme, for deep energy upgrades of homes first connected to the grid before 2008. Eligible measures include insulation, net-billing photovoltaics, and battery storage, and the works need to cut the home's primary energy use by at least 60%. Applications are expected to open in September 2026, one per person, with grant rates published at opening.

Will you handle the applications for me?

Completely. We prepare and submit your Net Billing contract, EAC applications, the grid-connection request, and any grant application you qualify for, then follow each through to approval. You sign; we file and chase.

Is there any support for businesses?

Net Billing itself scales to commercial systems up to 8 MW, and Virtual Net Billing lets you offset consumption recorded at a different meter. A separate €35 million storage grant for RES generation and self-consumption projects ran application windows in 2025, with the first agreements signed in 2026; new windows haven't been announced, and we monitor it for our commercial clients.

How do I know I'm not missing an incentive?

That's our job. We check the official scheme pages continuously, assess your eligibility during the free consultation, and contact you when something you qualify for opens. Nothing you're entitled to should slip through the cracks.

Don't leave an incentive on the table

We'll tell you exactly what's available today, what's coming next, and handle every application end to end. Book a free consultation to get started.
