Real Cyprus homeowners share their Smart Solar experience.
Smart Solar Cyprus was founded by Dr. Cathérine Ebner, who brought German engineering standards to an island with 300 days of sunshine and some of Europe's highest electricity prices. That mismatch is the problem we exist to fix, one roof at a time.
Our team has now installed more than 500 systems across Cyprus. The approach hasn't changed: design each system around the household's real consumption, install it to German standards, and stand behind it for decades.

Indicative pricing
Annual savings calculated at €0.30/kWh. Every system pays for itself in around three years.
| PV System Power | Indicative Cost (€) | Annual Energy (kWh) | Annual Savings (€) | Annual Fee to EAC (€) | Net Annual Profit (€) | Amortisation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 kW | 4,800 – 5,800 | 5,000 | 1,500 | 160 | 1,340 | 3 years |
| 4 kW | 5,700 – 6,700 | 6,500 | 1,950 | 216 | 1,734 | 3 years |
| 5 kW | 6,500 – 7,500 | 8,500 | 2,550 | 270 | 2,280 | 3 years |
| 7 kW | 9,200 – 10,200 | 11,000 | 3,300 | 378 | 2,922 | 3 years |
| 10 kW | 10,800 + | 16,000 | 4,800 | 540 | 4,260 | 3 years |
Prices are indicative and depend on roof type, orientation, and equipment chosen. New installations now fall under Cyprus's Net Billing scheme, with state support focused on battery-storage subsidies.
A residential photovoltaic system in Cyprus currently costs from €4,800 for a 3 kW installation to around €10,800 for 10 kW, fully installed with inverter, mounting and EAC paperwork. The table above breaks down cost, annual output and net profit per system size. A battery adds €800–1,000 per kWh of capacity, so a typical 10 kWh unit runs €8,000–10,000 before any grant. For the full breakdown, including what pushes a quote to the top or bottom of those ranges, see our 2026 price guide.
Cyprus gives you two of the best solar conditions in Europe: 300+ days of sunshine and household electricity at €0.25–0.30 per kWh. A 5 kW system produces roughly 8,500 kWh a year here, which is why a panel-only installation typically pays for itself in about three years and keeps producing for 25 or more. Add a battery and the combined system reaches payback in 4–6 years while covering most of your evening consumption too. Few investments in Cyprus return 20–30% a year with a component warranty attached.
Under net billing, the right size is the one that matches your real consumption, not the biggest your roof can hold. As a rule of thumb: a couple in an apartment or small house is usually well served by 3–4 kW; a family home with air conditioning lands at 5 kW; add a pool pump or an EV charger and 6–10 kW starts to make sense. We size every system from your actual EAC bills during the free site visit, and our solar calculator gives you a first estimate in two minutes.
Since 1 January 2026, every new system in Cyprus connects under net billing: electricity you use yourself is worth full retail price, while exports earn the wholesale rate of roughly €0.08–0.10 per kWh. That changes system design in favour of self-consumption and storage, and the state grant programme now requires a battery to qualify. We explain the rules and the maths in our net billing guide and battery storage guide, and we track the current grant conditions so you don't have to.
Take the most common installation, a 5 kW system. It produces around 8,500 kWh a year, worth roughly €2,550 at current rates. After the annual EAC fee of about €270, you keep a net €2,280 a year, against a purchase price of €6,500–7,500. That is the three-year payback in concrete numbers, and panels carry 25–30 year performance warranties, so the following two decades of production are yours. A battery shifts the evening portion of your consumption onto stored solar as well, which is what pushes household bills toward zero rather than merely down.
For most homes, no separate planning battle is involved: typical rooftop systems go through simplified procedures, and the real paperwork is the application and connection process with the EAC, which every system must complete before it switches on. Listed buildings, protected zones and larger commercial arrays carry extra requirements. We prepare and file all of it, from the first application to the final connection, as part of every quote.
We install Tier-1 hardware we are happy to service for decades: Luxor Solar and Jinko Solar panels, with inverters and battery systems from Huawei, Sungrow and Deye, matched to your roof and consumption rather than to whatever is in stock. Every installation is carried out by our own German-trained engineers, with over 500 systems delivered across the island.
Cheap quotes usually hide something, and expensive ones aren't automatically better. Five things worth checking before you sign: whether the price is turnkey (panels, inverter, mounting, labour and EAC paperwork included), which panel and inverter brands are named in writing, whether the installer modelled your actual consumption or just measured your roof, who handles the EAC and grant applications, and what workmanship guarantee covers the installation itself on top of the manufacturer warranties. Ask us these questions too; our proposals answer all five on the first page.
Smart Solar Cyprus is based in Yeroskipou and installs across the whole island. We are the local choice for solar panels in Paphos, and our teams cover Limassol, Larnaca, Nicosia and Ayia Napa on the same terms: free site visit, fixed quote, full EAC paperwork.
Solar schemes

The maximum power of a Net-Billing photovoltaic system in Cyprus is 8 MW. It's an extremely beneficial scheme, especially for large consumers and commercial purposes, that helps people make a profit by generating and using Renewable Energy Sources.
