A home battery stores the solar power you would otherwise export for a few cents at midday and gives it back after sunset, when EAC charges full retail. Under Net Billing that gap is where the savings sit: a typical 3-bedroom home with panels and a 10 kWh battery cuts around €1,800 a year from its bill. We install lithium iron phosphate systems in 5 kWh blocks, matched to a hybrid inverter from Huawei, Deye or Sungrow, or added to an existing PV system with an AC-coupled unit. Every package is sized from your real EAC bills, not from the size of the house.

How much does a solar battery cost in Cyprus?

Around €800 to €1,000 per kWh installed. A 5 kWh unit runs €4,000 to €5,000, a typical 10 kWh home system €8,000 to €10,000, and 15 to 20 kWh from €12,000 to €20,000. Where you land depends on the brand, the capacity and whether your inverter needs upgrading. We quote precisely after a free sizing assessment based on your EAC bills.

What size battery does my home need?

Most Cyprus homes need 10 to 14 kWh to cover the evening and night. A 3-bedroom home without a pool typically suits 10 kWh; larger properties with pools and multiple ACs need 15 to 20 kWh. Sizing is driven by your evening consumption, not your total daily usage, which is why we model it from your bills rather than guessing from house size.

Will it work with my existing solar system?

Usually yes. If you have a hybrid inverter, the battery connects directly. On older string inverters we either add an AC-coupled battery or swap in a hybrid inverter, whichever makes more financial sense for your setup. If you are on the old Net Metering scheme, we check your connection terms as part of the same assessment.

How long will the battery last?

Quality LFP batteries are rated for 6,000 or more cycles, which is well over ten years of daily use, and typically keep around 80% of their capacity after a decade. The warranty guarantees at least 70%. Cyprus's stable climate helps, and an annual check of connections, firmware and ventilation keeps things at their best.

Is there a battery subsidy in 2026?

Not a standalone one yet. A home-battery subsidy has been announced but, as of September 2026, applications have not opened and no amounts are published. The Save and Upgrade Homes 2026 grant, opening this September, can fund a battery within a wider energy upgrade of an older house. We track both and prepare your application the day a window opens. The payback maths above works without a grant.

What is the payback period?

In most homes 6 to 8 years at current prices and tariffs, before any subsidy. The battery carries a 10-year warranty and keeps working well beyond it, so the system keeps saving for years after it has paid for itself.
